8 Things to Think About Before You Buy a Kitten
1. Kittens usually start off by lying in your arms looking quite peacful, but before you know it your kitten is an adult.
2. Kittens can be very fussy eaters. Even the smallest kitten will throw up anything that it doesn’t believe to be nice and or good tasting. You will go through differenty varieties of kitten food before your kitten finally decides which brand she or he likes best.
3. Kittens can and will grow into an opinionated cat that has very strong likes and dislikes. Remember: If your cat likes something, then it’s his or hers!
4. Kittens, just like older cats, can tell which one of your friends and family members do not like or are allergic to cats. These are usually the people that your kitten and cat will insist on sitting on their lap.
5. Cat’s can be trained to do almost anything. However, the younger that they start to learn, the better and faster they will learn. Unfortunately, a kitten or cat that has an ability to learn does not automatically mean that your kitten or cat actually has a willingness to learn. Remember, that cat’s have staff!
6. Kittens can and do grow very quickly and before you know it your kitten will be a much larger, robust cat. So even though it is cute right now to have your kitten share your pillow at night when you go to bed, it will not be so cute in years to come when your full grown cat decides that your pillow actually belongs to him!
7. If you are planning a trip to a cat breeder or pet store that sells kittens, make sure that you only bring just enough money to cover the cost of one kitten and his or her supplies. Kittens are very adorable and you will need to resist the urge to buy more than one!
8. Make sure that you have alreay bought all the supplies you will need for your new kitten before bringing him or her to live with you. This includes a litter box and litter, a litter scoop, food dish, water dish, toys, catnip, a cat bed or blanket, and at least three different varieties of kitten food just in case your kitten has a hard time deciding which food he or she likes better.
