Long Term Cat Care
Cat care is a long term relationship. In order to provide the best long-term care possible for your cat, you should make sure that you are off to a great start. Everything must be planned in order to avoid future mistakes.
Cats are wonderful pet companions, as long you understand their needs. Start with feeding your cat the best food possible. Make sure that the food you feed your cat has all the necessary nutrients and fiber to provide your cat with lots of energy as well as good health. Never feed your cat any leftovers.
The next most serious aspect of proper cat ownership is to make sure that your cat’s living area is free from anything that can cause them accidents. Do not leave any plant that is poisonous hanging around. Make sure there are no wires for your cat to chew on and that your furniture is protected from their sharp claws.
In regards to grooming, cats are well known to take ample time in grooming themselves. However, too much grooming can also be bad because they can hurt themselves in the process. It is also a sign of allergies or fleas and you will need to take your cat in to see a vet.
You will also need to keep your cats litter box clean and well maintained. Did you know that the cat’s sense of smell is 14 times stronger than yours? You may not smell a thing but your cat most certainly will. And it is for this reason that you cat may not use his litter box if it smells. Instead your cat might use your carpet or favorite pair of shoes instead of his litter box.
You will also need to have a very good vet for your cat. Find out where your friends and neighbors take their cats, and then try to make an appointment with that vet. Make sure that you feel comfortable with the vet and that your cat is as well. Be mindful of the simplest symptoms that your cat may show. Just by observing your pet, you will know if something is wrong. Call the vet immediately and ask their opinion.
Aiming for a long term cat care is good. By doing so, you only need to match that goal with the right steps to enrich the lives of your cat as well as yours.
