Three Legged Cats

Having a normal, four legged cat requires responsibility that comes with hard word, practice, learning and applying all those to the way you do things. However, with taking care of a three legged cat, everything must be done with extra caution and care.

The first thing that you will have to pay attention to is your three legged cat’s body language and sounds. You should be able to match the body language of your cat to its mood. Once you have this figured out, you should then take note of what things, or situations upset your cat. By knowing this you will be able to help your cat live a less stressful life.

Cats have very good eyesight, but they do have a much better sense of smell. In fact, cat’s can smell 14 times better than humans can and because of this you will need to make quite sure that your cat’s litter box is always well maintained and cleaned on a regular basis, otherwise your cat will not use their litter box at all.

Most three legged cats are on some type of medication. Most cats hate taking medication and will usually try to fight it.  You will have to find ways that your cat will be able to take the medicines without causing you and her too much trouble. Try to get medication in liquid form as tablets and capsules are hard for cats to swallow.

When petting your three legged cat, you will need to take extra care about how you touch your cat. She may be extremely sensitive near the stump of her missing leg, or on her other three legs. Being too aggressive or too playful may also hurt your legged cat.

By simply being extra cautious with taking care of your three legged cat, you will be able to provide her with a happy and healthy life. You will simply need to learn what to do and what to avoid, in order to have a perfect relationship with your three legged cat.
